****Gary & Forest went down to the ASTASA trial in Georgia over Labor Day. In their very first weekend in the ring-for either one of them- they came away with Forest's first Started sheep leg!! Way to go guys!Deb & I are so proud of you.****
****Mr Forest finished in style at the SFASC shows this weekend, going WD for his last major, then on to BOW and BOB over some lovely Specials, including the #1 ranked Altered Special, all under Breeder-Judge Debra St Jacques!!!!****
Forest is proudly co-owned with Debbie and Gary Anderson of Cedar Glen Australian Shepherds.Forest had multiple BOB and BOSp wins under breeder-judges in 3 states,as well as several all breed Puppy Group placements and a BIMp win during his puppy days. His first time out in the regular classes,Forest was RWD to a 4 point major from the 9-12 class at the GAASC Paw Thaw. Forest recently picked up his first AKC points March 1st and 2nd at the Pensacola shows, also from the 9-12 class! Forest also made the cut in the 12-18 class at the 2003 USASA Nationals in Michigan.
Forest made his debut in Altered at the 2003 ASCA Pre Shows & Nationals with a bang! On Saturday at the Heart of Texas Pre-Show under Gail Karamalegos he was Second in Am Bred. On Sunday at the ASC of Michigan Pre Show under Gene Renolds, Forest won his class and went on to Winners Dog!!!!! On Monday at the Upper Midwest ASC Pre Show Forest again won his class! He topped of Nationals Week by winning his class Wendsday at the Nationals itself!
We are very proud of this lovely young dog. The decision to alter him was very difficult, but one both Debbie and Gary Anderson and myself arrived at after learning that 2 of Forest's litter mates were diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. To date,Forest is a happy, healthy boy. In conjunction with the owner of the sire, one co-owner of the dam and the owners of litter mates,we have submitted DNA samples to the studies on epilepsy in Aussies being conducted by VetGen Labs and the University of Missouri. If you own or have bred an Aussie with idiopathis epilepsy,we strongly encourage you to contact the U of M at the link listed below.Unfortunatly,VetGen recently dropped their research on Aussies, due to lack of samples and breeder interest. All submissions to Missouri are confidential and will help move research in finding a genetic marker along. The discovery of a genetic marker is our best hope for controlling, and one day eradicating, this devastating disease from our gene pool.
*In his first post Nationals outing at the GAASC Jubilee,Forest was RWD Saturday morning,WD/BOW Saturday night and WD/BOW Sunday!! Forest picked up WD on Saturday at the GAASC Paw Thaw and WD/BOW on Sunday for a 3 point major!*
