Everyone says that there is no such thing as that elusive Perfect Dog. Maybe not. All I know is Oats was the perfect dog for me. I still remember the day I picked her up-I though she was the most beautiful,elegant thing I had ever seen. Her looks belied what was inside though. A tough little red dog with the heart of a fighter,Oats wasn't afraid of the Devil himself.
She was all I could have ever asked for and so much more. My show dog, my foundation bitch, my working partner-just my dog. She was there for all the beginnings of all the 'grown up" parts of my life-college,sneaking in and out of "no pets allowed" dorm rooms for 4 years,graduations,degrees,broken hearts,first jobs,my wedding and our new home.She was, and always will be, the heart of Oak and Ash.
Until her last breath,only two people existed in this world for her-myself and her breeder,whom she never forgot,no matter how much time went by between visits. I will be forever grateful to Bobbie Myrick for producing her and for later entrusting her to me. I still can't believe our girl is gone.
